Morocco: Marrakesh and the lovely Peacock Pavillion

I have settled into the retreat center at the Peacock Pavillion 30 minutes from the old city of Marrakech.  This hotel is difficult to describe with one beautiful room after another. Just the lobby alone is filled with Moroccan art and rugs that give one a taste of the delights that this country has to offer. Guest rooms are located in various cottages scattered around several acres. Each cottage boasts tasteful decor and artifacts. Rooms have bold colors, wall papers or stenciling that sets a theme. The grounds are lush with bougainvillea,  olive trees, and rose bushes just ready to burst forth with blooms. 









Each day we find ourselves (12 women) eating in a different setting on the property. Our first dinner was in a tent lit with candles and Moroccan lanterns. Food is served on beautiful pottery and cooked in Tajines. I feel spoiled.

 March 24, 2023 - March 29 Catching up on blogging after such a wonderful trip on the Nile is nearly impossible.  Our ship was lovely, the food, while not spectacular, was interesting and plentiful.  Everyone working on the ship was friendly and helpful. We had trouble with the internet service which is minimal. I don't think I've ever been on a cruise anywhere that this is not the case. Detaching for a while is a nice change.  Mr. Famous!! Travel Day

  Travel Day::  September 23, 2024 Planning, anticipation, worry and finally the departure day arrives. Goodbye Sunny San Diego. Hello London! It is possible to travel to Europe from San Diego. As I headed to my gate, I saw a flight headed to Munich and thought, humm, maybe next year?? But today I'm taking British Airway for a 10.5 hour flight direct to Heathrow. BA is a partner with Alaska airline so points can be accrued.  In premium economy one gets extra wide, comfortable seats, foot rests, leg room, a good recline, along with great food, wine, and plenty of entertainment.  I am not a sleeper on long flights so just a a bit of elevated comfort is a perfect choice for me.  This is the first time I am traveling alone for the first 5 days of my month long trip. I rationalize that I'll be fine. Marrakech: Final days of the Pilates Retreat

 April 7, 2023  Linda and I are in Lisbon. But I am catching up on the fantastic week we spent in Marrakech.  This week has been special in so many ways. Getting to spend a full week with my beautiful daughter has been wonderful. She pushes all of us to move in ways that test our strength and push beyond what we all think is possible.  Twice daily classes were mixed with plenty of wonderful excursions, food, and people.  Last meal at the Peacock Pavillion.  Delicious salmon  The dinner tent Lunch after the spa. A filo filled with ground nuts  cinnamon and chicken We have all shopped 'till we surpassed our suitcases capacity.  The culture of the Souk is fascinating and challenging with traffic that jockeys for room on narrow paths meant only for foot traffic.  We happen to wander down the fresh food street where a live chicken was about to get the cleaver in preparation for a patron's dinner.
